The Canadian ministers and parliamentarians have starred in a peculiar scene this Thursday: they have put on pink heels to raise awareness about the scourge of sexist violence. The video of this act, in his view, vindictive, has been uploaded to his Twitter by the Minister of Transport, Omar Alghabra.
Canadian politicians have carried out this action in support of Halton Women’s Place, an association that offers shelter and community services for women and children who experience gender-based violence and abuse. It is framed in an annual awareness campaign called ‘Hope in High Heels on the Hill’, and in its fourth edition, politicians from Canada have joined.
“Violence against women is still prevalent in our society. ‘Hope in Heels’ is an event that raises awareness about violence against women and encourage men and boys to be part of the solution. We are wearing her characteristic pink heels in support of this important cause,” Omar Alghabra said in a message posted on his profile.
“Educating men and boys is part of the solution, and it is everyone’s responsibility to end gender violence“, said, for her part, Karina Gould, Minister of Family, Children and Social Development of Canada.
