According to the Polish agency, on Friday, August 5, one of the journalists asked the representatives about the blockade of providing Ukraine with macro-financial assistance. European Commission spokeswoman Arianna Podesta said work on the donation of eight billion euros was ongoing. – We are in the process of consulting the Member States – she explained. The transfer of money will be possible after consent is given by 27 European Union countries.

PAP asked Germany for a comment on these reports, but did not obtain a clear position on the payment of billions of euros. “On July 1, the Commission proposed extraordinary macro-financial assistance to Ukraine in the amount of one billion euros, which will be backed by guarantees from the EU budget. Germany supported this proposal, which was adopted by the Council on July 12. […] Now we are waiting for the Commission’s proposal for the remaining measures and we will analyze it as soon as possible, wrote the Ministry of Finance in response.

On Tuesday, August 2, Ukraine received one of the nine billion MFA approved by EU leaders. – We expect to receive another eight billion euros. Unfortunately, some European Union countries, in particular Germany, are blocking the consideration of this matter for the time being, and the President of Ukraine is actively negotiating with his partners, Zhovkva admitted at the time.

The EC spokeswoman herself said a day earlier that the EU did not currently have sufficient funds to provide Ukraine with macro-financial assistance in this amount. – At the moment, according to the current multi-annual budget plan, there are no funds available for the creation of an airbag. With this in mind, we are considering alternative solutions, including the use of Member States’ guarantees, she emphasized. European Truth reports that on the same day Volodymyr Zelensky asked French President Emmanuel Macron for help in unblocking the aid.

A spokesman for the Federal Ministry of Finance of Germany, however, objected to the thesis that the country was making it difficult to help Ukraine. – After the G7 meeting in Petersberg, Germany has already paid Ukraine one billion euros. Germany will also participate in further aid. The federal government is in contact with European partners and the European Commission on this matter, he said, as quoted by the daily “”.
