On Friday, the European Commission will start consultations with EU countries on the eleventh package of sanctions against Russia, Beata Płomecka, the Brussels correspondent of Polish Radio, learned. These will be called “confessionals”. On their basis, the European Commission is preparing a draft of the eleventh package of restrictions for negotiations with EU capitals.
Poland, among others, was pushing for a quick start of negotiations on the eleventh package of sanctions. Poland also – together with the Baltic states – sent its proposals to the Commission. The document seen by the Brussels correspondent of Polish Radio, Beata Płomecka, mentions, among other things, further sanctions in the energy sector. It is about a ban on oil imports via the northern section of the Druzhba pipeline and a system of fees and limits for those who continue to take oil from Russia via the southern section. This applies to Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. Poland – together with the Baltic states – is also demanding sanctions in the nuclear energy sector, a ban on the import of diamonds and aluminum from Russia and tightening export controls on dual-use goods and technologies, according to the Radio Information Agency.
