The US authorities announced this Thursday that the farm explosion of dairy products that took place in Texas earlier this week would have caused the death of at least 18,000 head of cattle and seriously injured a worker.
“This was the deadliest barn fire for cattle in Texas history and investigation and cleanup may take some time,” said Texas Agriculture Commissioner, sid millerin a statement in which he has indicated that he does not yet have “all the facts surrounding this disaster.”
“The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and we all want to know what the facts are. There are lessons to be learned and the impact of this fire can influence the immediate area and the industry itself,” he declared, while noting that it will inform the public of the details later “so that tragedies like this can be avoided in the future.”
Miller has explained that the farm worker trapped inside one of the buildings after the explosion and fire on Monday, after which she was rescued and taken to a hospital.
“Although devastating, I am grateful that there have been no more injuries among the workers or any loss of human life,” said the commissioner, who has conveyed his best wishes to the worker and her family.
