Russia considered on Wednesday that the document leak United States classified reports on the conflict in Ukraine could be part of a Washington disinformation campaign aimed at “cheat” to Russia.
“we have no position” in this regard, indicated the Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sergei Riabkovquoted by the Russian press agencies.
“Perhaps it is a ‘fake’, deliberate toxic information”, he pointed out.
“Given the USA is part of the conflict [en Ucrania] and that, in reality, he is conducting a hybrid war against us, such methods are possible to deceive the enemy, that is, the Russian Federation”, he claimed.
Late last week, classified US documents were posted online, a leak that the Pentagon says represents a “very serious risk” for the national security of the United States.
Among other issues, the documents allude to the doubts of the United States regarding the chances of success of the Ukrainian counteroffensive that kyiv would be preparing.
AFP could not confirm the authenticity of those leaked documents.
The relationships between Russia and the United States are at rock bottom levels and have deteriorated sharply in the aftermath of the Russian assault on Ukraine.
After a series of military defeats and heavy losses, Moscow presents the conflict as a proxy conflict orchestrated by the West against Russia, with the Europeans and the Americans supporting Ukraine militarily and financially.
