Russia has tested an intercontinental ballistic missile from the Kapustin Yar test area in the Astrakhan region, which is located in the south of the country, near the Caspian Sea.
“On April 11, 2023, a combat team from the Strategic Missile Forces launched successfully an intercontinental ballistic missile of a land-based mobile missile system from the Kapustin Yar State Central Interspecific Field in the Astrakhan region,” the Russian Defense Ministry reported on Wednesday.
The ministry has indicated that the aim of the launch is to test advanced combat equipment of intercontinental ballistic missiles, to confirm the correctness of the circuit design and the technical solutions used in the development of new missile systems.
In addition, it has specified that “the launch task has been completed in its entirety”, after the test warhead impacted a training ground from Sary Shagan, in Kazakhstan.
