Euskaraz irakurri: Italyk migrazio larrialdi egoera ezarri du sei hilabeterako
The Italian Government yesterday decreed a state of emergency for six months to deal with the increase in the migratory flow.
This measure, which will be in force for six months throughout the national territory, will provide state structures with five million euros from the National Emergency Fund with the aim, among other things, of facilitating the reception of migrants, as well as reinforcing the repatriation and expulsion tools.
This comes after Italian authorities reported on Monday that more than 2,000 migrants have been rescued in the Ionian Sea and the Mediterranean Sea over the weekend.
The Executive chaired by the far-right Giorgia Meloni has affirmed that there has been a 300% increase in the arrival of migrants through the Mediterranean routes. According to data provided by the transalpine government, arrivals in Italy exceeded 31,000 since the beginning of 2023, almost four times more than the nearly 8,000 in 2022.
