The President of Egypt, Abdelfatá al Sisi, ordered the manufacture of about 40,000 missiles to be sent to Russia in the framework of the war against Ukraineaccording to the documents of the US intelligence services leakedaccording to the newspaper ‘The Washington Post’.

In the document, the president speaks with someone named Salah al Din -who ‘The Washington Post’ believes could be Mohamed Salah al Din, secretary of state for military production-, who suggests that the employees will work overtime if necessary, since “it is the least we could do for the previous aid from Russia”, without specifying what aid they are referring to.
The military also alleged that “the russians will buy anything” in terms of arms and ammunition, always according to the aforementioned newspaper.
He Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeidspokesman for the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, did not confirm the veracity of the document to the newspaper and has alleged, in response to the American newspaper, that “Egypt’s position since the principle is non-intervention (…) to maintain an equal distance with both sides”.
On the other hand, a US official consulted by the media, has explained -as an anonymous source- that your country has no record that these arms supply plans they will come to pass.
The United States Department of Defense has acknowledged that the recent leak of documents containing “highly confidential and classified” information “a very serious risk to national security”although he has not yet commented on the information from ‘The Washington Post’.
Where does the leak come from?
The documents apparently remained in Discord, a messaging service that acts as a social network, from January to early March, when a user posted dozens of them in a group with a larger number of members.
Since then, at least a dozen files have been disseminated through other channels. Last week, an edited version of one of these documents came to light through the Telegram messaging application.
The documents detail the US assessment of the war in Ukraine and include plans to reinforce the Ukrainian Army with a view to a counteroffensive, as well as data on the state of the Russian forces. Also includes sensitive material about Canada, China, Israel or South Korear.
USA reassures its allies
The United States has been in contact in recent days with some of its allies closest to reassure them after the leak. At a press conference, John Kirbyone of the White House spokesmen, explained that senior US officials have been in contact with some of Washington’s closest allies “at the highest levels” in recent days to discuss the recent leaks.
In addition, Kirby assured that the Government of Joe Biden is doing everything possible to identify the source of the leak, and the Department of Justice has opened a criminal investigation to determine it.
Kirby also claimed that some of the documents, marked “secret”, have been manipulated, so he asked the media to be careful when reporting on them. An opinion that also agrees with that of the South Korean Defense Minister, Lee Jong-sup, after a conversation with his American counterpart.
