Russia has started a large-scale military maneuver in the Arcticwith the aim of ensuring the safety of Moscow’s activities in the area, as well as maritime communications.
The military exercises have the participation of 1,800 soldiers, 85 military equipment, 40 planes and 15 boats, as reported by the ‘Interfax’ news agency.
“In various stages of the exercise, the interaction with the naval forces of the fleet will be resolved, as well as with the aircraft of the long-range aviation command of the Russian Aerospace Forces,” reads a statement collected by the aforementioned agency.
The maneuvers are expected to last several days, in which tests the coordination between the different Russian forces, in a place considered important by Russia for being the export step for raw materials from the north of the country.
