The PNV recalled that this Monday marks the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement in Northern Ireland, “a success on the long road towards definitive peace” in that country that “could inspire” the search for solutions to other conflicts still current.

“Today we can affirm, with a certain historical perspective, that that agreement was a success on the long road towards definitive peace in Ireland, despite the periods of institutional stagnation and the sporadic episodes of violence registered in this time”, he has valued the jeltzale formation on the occasion of that anniversary.

The Belfast Agreement, moreover, “has made it possible to save many lives and has been a true stimulus for economic prosperity and the social well-being of the citizens most directly concerned,” the statement added.

According to the PNV, “although no two situations are the same, the complex resolution of this conflict has a universal dimension that can also inspire others in force when it comes to finding ways to solve it.”

In this way, that party has valued said date “as one of the significant political milestones of the 20th century in Europe” for having been “an event that made it possible, in the first place, to end an unfortunate period of terror and human pain, and which then opened up a future of hope, peace and well-being for the new generations of Irish men and women”.
