Easter is a time that Poles spend with their families and take a break from work, where they have to appear on the rest of the days. One of them is Good Friday, which is a working day by law in Poland. As it turns out, this is not the case everywhere in the world, and many Europeans enjoy longer .
Who doesn’t have to go to work on Good Friday?
Good Friday is a day off in more than half of the European Union countries such as: Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, Estonia, Finland, Malta, Portugal, Czech Republic, Sweden, Great Britain, Slovakia, Denmark, Cyprus, Latvia and Bulgaria. Residents of these countries do not have to worry that they will not have time to rest during the Easter holidays.
In Poland, statutory holidays are also Easter Monday, so we will not spend Good Friday on vacation – unless we take it from the 20 or 26 days allocated to us. Among the countries working on that day, apart from Poland, there are also Ukraine, Greece, Croatia, Russia, Austria and Italy. Of course, it all depends on the employer, who may shorten the working hours as an exception.
Easter. Working days have their advantages
The fact that Good Friday is working means that many Poles can still do their shopping. Gifts for children or basic everyday food are just some of the things you will be able to replenish when returning from work, as trading hours will not be shortened until Saturday, April 8.
