Peru remains on alert for heavy rains that have left 50 dead

The authorities of Peru remain on alert given the forecast that during this weekend the strong rains which until now have left 50 dead and thousands homeless.
The National Center for Estimation, Prevention and Reduction of Disaster Risk (Cenepred) has reported that the risk scenario for this Saturday and Sunday includes 409 districts of the north coast and highlands of the country.
The president of Peru, Dina Boluarte, reported this Friday that the rains have so far caused the death of 50 people, 8,000 homeless, more than 50,000 affected1,300 houses destroyed and 640 kilometers of roads affected.
Boluarte confirmed the presentation before Congress of a project for the creation of a national infrastructure authorityin charge of watershed control works, such as the RĂmac River, which runs through the center of Lima and maintains a high level of risk due to the current rainfall.
