This weekend, fighters from the Wagner group managed to enter the industrial zone of the Azom metallurgical plant, in the Ukrainian city of Bakhmutas announced by Wagner’s own boss, Yevgeny Prigozhin.

In the event of a battle there, the complexity of it would be reminiscent of that of the Azovstal steelworks in Mariupol, given its structure of passageways and underground areas.

For weeks, Bakhmut is resisting the Russian attacks. Within the area already controlled by Russia is the metallurgical silver, where allegedly there would be Ukrainian soldiers entrenched in the underground galleries, although Ukraine does not confirm this.

According to the Institute for the Study of Warfare, Russian forces could attempt a frontal attack on the highly fortified plant. An attack that would be very expensivesince the attacks would take place in the fortified underground galleries and communications, where progress would be very slow and there could be numerous casualties.

According to Russia, the stormtroopers are already making their way into the mine and the fighting is taking place at a depth of up to 320 metersa version that Ukraine does not confirm.
