Ukrainian grain exports for the 2022/23 season stood at 34.7 million tons as of March 15, affected by a lower harvest and logistical difficulties caused by the Russian invasion, data from the Ministry of Agriculture showed on Wednesday.
The ministry did not provide comparative data for the same date in 2022. It said that Ukraine had exported 44.8 million tons of grain as of March 27, 2022.
Season-to-date volume included about 11.9 million tons of wheat, 20.3 million tons of corn and 2.14 million tons of barley.
According to the ministry, grain exports in March had reached 2.4 million tons as of March 15.
Following a nearly six-month closure triggered by the Russian invasion, three Ukrainian Black Sea ports were cleared in late July under a United Nations-Turkey-brokered deal between Moscow and Kiev.
Grain production in Ukraine, one of the world’s leading producers and exporters, likely fell to about 54 million tonnes in clean weight year-on-year in 2022, from a record 86 million tonnes in the previous year.
The authorities have blamed the drop on hostilities in the eastern, northern and southern regions of the country.
