Pope Francis asked society on Tuesday to “reject violence in all its forms” and “respect life”, before which he described a “senseless” shooting that occurred this Monday near Chicago (United States) in which they have killed at least six people.

Francis sent a telegram sent to the Archbishop of Chicago, Cardinal Blase Cupich. In the telegram, signed by the Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, as usual, in which he expressed his “profound sadness” upon learning of “the senseless shooting” that took place in the US and expressed “His spiritual closeness to all those affected”

With unshakable faith that God’s grace is capable of converting even the hardest of hearts, making it possible to turn from evil and do good, I pray that every member of society rejects violence in all its forms and respects life in all its stages,” he added.

On Monday, a gunman on a rooftop opened fire at an Independence Day parade in a north Chicago neighborhood, killing at least six people and wounding 30 others.
