Belgium banned the app on Friday TikTok on the mobile phones of ministers and federal officials, in line with measures being adopted by other countries such as the United States or European institutions.
Is about “a logical and necessary decision”, said the Belgian Deputy Prime Minister, George Gilkinet, in a message on his official Twitter account, after the meeting that the National Security Council (CSN) held today to analyze the issue.
The ban on TikTok will be applied for an initial period of six months, after which the measure will be reviewed, which will only affect official devices, although the CSN also recommended uninstalling the application on personal devices.
In addition to this measure agreed at the federal level, the authorities of the Flanders region (north of the country) also agreed yesterday to ban the Chinese application on the official phones and computers of its officials, after receiving several alerts about possible security risks.
