Malkin sets Pittsburgh club record

Russian Evgeni Malkin became Pittsburgh’s champion in the number of penalty minutes

Russian forward Evgeni Malkin set the Pittsburgh Penguins club record in the National Hockey League (NHL). It is reported by The Hockey News.

In the first period of the regular season match against the New York Islanders, which ended in overtime with a score of 3: 4, Malkin received a two-minute suspension. Thus, on account of the 36-year-old Russian was 1050 penalty minutes as part of Pittsburgh, which made him the club’s record holder in terms of their number. Previously, the record was held by Kevin Stevens (1048 minutes).

On February 11, Malkin entered the top 50 scorers in NHL history. With two assists against the Anaheim Ducks, the forward scored 1,200 points in his league career.

Malkin has been playing in the NHL since 2006. Throughout his career, he has played for Pittsburgh. Together with the team, the Russian won the Stanley Cup three times.
