The Brussels Public Prosecutor’s Office is investigating a bomb threat in the city subway. On Tuesday night, the European Comission He informed the police that he had received an email written in Russian according to which an attack was going to be carried out in the community capital this Wednesday if the receiving agency does not change its policies.
“The recent threatening emails were duly assessed, both the Commission and the Belgian security services decided to maintain the current alert level,” an EC spokesman reported this afternoon. Likewise, he explained that the Belgian authorities have initiated an investigation for their part, as a precautionary measure.
After learning about these messages with threats, the United States embassy in Brussels has launched an alert stating that the Belgian Police has increased security in response to a possible attack on the subway.
“Continue to be aware of your surroundings and be careful when traveling in and around Brussels,” the US embassy stresses in its notice, in which it advises taking some measures such as avoiding crowds or monitoring the local media for the latest updates.
