The Ukrainian town of Kreminna marks the beginning of a line of more than 120 kilometers along which the Ukrainian troops fight people to people with the Russian armyto Vugledar.
On that front, a cardinal point is Bakhmut. Russia wants to take it over, or what’s left of it rather, and there, Ukrainian soldiers resist Moscow’s incessant bombardments.
Volunteers fighting in the area know who they are facing, Wagner’s paramilitaries that, according to Ukrainian channels, they would have lost several men entrenched in a building in the city.
And if Russia is targeting Bakhmut, Ukraine has others that start with being able to recapture Mariupol. this would be a conquest that would completely change the course of the war and that for now seems very difficult.
For it to happen, Ukraine need tanks, many tanks, and more and more countries agree to send them. The last to arrive were four Leopard 2s sent by Poland, but there are committed more than 700 in totalof different models.
Before they can be used in combat, Ukrainian soldiers are receiving training to know how to handle them in different parts of the European Union.
Apart from the tanks, Ukraine continues to ask for more and better weapons and its new objective, as the Ukrainian president VlodĂmir Zelenski has defended, is to achieve fighters. The United States, its largest supplier so far, does not agree.
On the anniversary of the start of the conflict, US President Joe Biden has ruled out “for now” sending F-16 fighters to Ukraine, as his Ukrainian counterpart has requested. “He doesn’t need an F-16 now,” Biden said in an interview on ‘ABC’, in which he assures that Ukraine has what it takes to hold positions until summer.
