The government of Venezuela honored “great achievements” of Russia “which served to guarantee peace and security on the planet” and congratulated that nation, regarding the celebration this Sunday, June 12, of the Eurasian country’s national day.
“In times of great challenges for humanity, Venezuela makes the occasion to honor the historical legacy of Russia, as well as the great achievements of its people that served to guarantee peace and security on the planet, giving the world a necessary balance. and always counteracting the mentality of a unipolar world,” said the Venezuelan government in a statement released by the Foreign Ministry.
In the text, the Venezuelan Executive reiterated its solidarity “for the struggles carried out by the Russian Federation to guarantee its security, sovereignty and territorial integrity” and reaffirmed its “firm” will to strengthen ties of friendship and brotherhood between the two countries.
“The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, in the exercise of Bolivarian peace diplomacy, reiterates its commitment to work together with the people and Government of the Russian Federation, in the consolidation of a multicentric and multipolar world, in defense of multilateralism, the right based on the Charter of the United Nations and peace”, Venezuela pointed out in the letter.
Russia is one of the greatest political and commercial allies of the government of Nicolás Maduro, in power since 2013.
The ties between the two countries were strengthened during the management of the late President Hugo Chávez and are maintained in the Maduro Administration, which has expressed its “firm support” for Russia after the invasion of Ukraine, which is now more than 100 days old and in which At least 4,031 civilians have been killed and another 4,735 injured, according to figures from the United Nations Office for Human Rights.
