“Human life has no value here”, the complaints of the survivors in Turkey for the poor quality of the buildings

An extreme situation that has caused the survivor protests, who complain about the mismanagement that has occurred on the part of the Turkish government. Many say that the response has been slow and, in many cases, it has come late.

“Humanitarian aid and equipment arrived in the afternoon of the third day. It was already too late,” says one of these affected people. Others point out that the construction of houses that did not comply with the law existing to prevent them from collapsing with earthquakes.

“Strong houses should be built and investigations should be carried out. Human life is worthless here“, reveals a citizen. Precisely, this issue has already been placed in the hands of the authorities and more than 100 arrest warrants against builders.

Some sanctions that arrive late. Now, the survivors ask for help to rebuild their home and face the cold. “We want psychological and financial help. Our houses are destroyed. We want them to build us a house or give us money,” says one of these affected people.

A petition joined by another Turkish citizen. “We are freezing. We are sleeping in the courtyard of a mosque. There is no shelter, no water, no electricity,” she explains.
