The White House has clarified that “no indication of aliens or extraterrestrial activity” in the three flying objects that have been shot down in recent days in the territories of the United States and Canada.
“There is no indication of aliens or extraterrestrial activity in these recent shootdowns. I wanted to make sure the American people knew and it is important that we say it from here”, stressed the White House spokeswoman, Karine Jean-Pierre, in her daily press conference.
His comments come after the head of the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), General Glen VanHerck, said on Sunday that he had not ruled out “No choice” about the origin of the knocked down objects.
The US Government shot down on February 4 a Chinese “spy” balloon over Atlantic waters off the coast of South Carolina, and in the last three days it has shot down three other flying objects in its territory and Canada, whose origin has not yet been confirmed.
In the same press conference, the spokesman for the White House National Security Council, John Kirbyhas explained that still provenance has not been determined of the three downed artifacts and has emphasized that, for now, the government is referring to them as “objects“, without linking them to Chinese “spy” balloon.
According to Kirby, the US President, Joe Bidenordered them to be shot down because they were at a height that could interfere with the trajectory of commercial aircraftalthough it is not believed that they posed a “direct threat” to the population or the security of the country.
Last week, Joe Biden’s executive accused the Chinese government of having developed, with the involvement of its Armed Forces, a “program” of spy balloonswhich have already flown over more than 40 countries on five continents.
In this regard, Kirby assured that Beijing began to develop this program in the days of the Administration of donald trump (2017-2021), but Biden had to reach the White House for it to be detected. “They (members of the Trump administration) did not detect it. We detect it, and we track themKirby stressed.
According to the White House, under the Trump administration, at least three Chinese balloons flew over the United States; but the former president denies it.
For its part, China alleges that the “spy” balloon that the US shot down was for the purpose of investigating meteorological phenomena and has accused Washington of overreacting by shooting down the latest flying objects.
