investors Qataris are preparing to make an offer to buy the Manchester Utdclub of the premier leaguein the coming days, Bloomberg reported Monday, citing sources familiar with the matter.
The report added that the consortium will submit an initial offer for the club by the end of the week and that Qatar Investment Authority officials are assisting with preparations for the offer.
Reuters has contacted Manchester United for comment.
Jim Ratcliffe’s company, INEOS, formally entered the bidding process to buy United last month after the club’s American owners, the Glazer family, said in November they had begun looking at options that included either a new investment or a possible sale.
Earlier this month, the Daily Mail newspaper reported that Qatari investors plan to make a big offer to buy United.
The Daily Mail report indicated that the interested investors are independent of QSI, owner of French Paris St Germain, and that the money will come from an “individual fund” rather than a sovereign wealth fund.
United, led by Erik ten Hag, is third in the league with 46 points after 23 games, two points behind Manchester City and five behind leaders Arsenal.
