A French military woman denounces having been raped in the Elysee palace

The alleged aggressor worked in the same section as the victim and they knew each other.

A military officer stationed at the Elysee presidential palace denounced having been raped in those same facilities by a comrade, also a military man, allegedly last July, the daily Libération reported this Friday, according to which the Justice has opened an investigation.

According to the newspaper, the alleged assault took place on the night of July 1, 2021, during an informal meeting before the summer holidays, in which part of the 800 employees stationed at the Elysee met.

According to Libération, the friendly meeting even included the brief presence of French President Emmanuel Macron, who at the beginning went on to greet some senior Army commanders.

As the night progressed and the atmosphere became more relaxed, the reported events took place, according to the newspaper.

The young military woman went, hours after the event, to a police station in the VIII district of Paris, near the presidential palace, to denounce them. According to Libération, the alleged aggressor worked in the same section as the victim and they knew each other.

Justice investigates the facts. The suspect has already been questioned during his time in judicial custody.

The Elíseo, for its part, said in a statement quoted by the newspaper that it does not comment on matters that are under investigation, although it clarified that measures have been taken to protect the complainant, changing the suspect’s work area.
