A computer attack leaves several NATO websites inoperative

Several NATO web pages have suffered a computer attack on the night of this Sunday, temporarily leaving the website of the Special Operations Headquarters of the Atlantic Alliance, among other sites, inoperative.

“The NATO cyber experts are actively dealing with an incident which affects some Alliance websites. NATO deals with cyber incidents on a regular basis, and takes cyber security very seriously,” an Alliance official told the DPA agency.

Some statements that have taken place after reports published on social networks suggested that pro-Russian hackers would have attacked the website of the NATO Special Operations Headquarters (NSHQ) and others, making them temporarily inaccessible.

Potential attackers, as detailed in the aforementioned reports, could include the Russian hacker group killnetassociated with other recent attacks on Germanydirected against the websites of the Bundestag, the Police and critical infrastructure facilities, according to the aforementioned agency.
