New York helps Hispanics move “anywhere in the US.”

The city of NY is helping the immigrantsand specifically those of Hispanic origin, to pay for their transfer “anywhere in USA provided they meet certain requirements.

At the Port Authority bus station, which has become the epicenter of immigration management in recent months, a message written only in Spanish at the entrance to the complex set up for immigrants specifies: “We provide bus, train or airline tickets to any destination you choose in the United States.”

As explained by a person in charge of referring emigrants to one service or another, this “travel aid” it began to be implemented quietly last December, after Mayor Eric Adams repeated over and over again that the city was overwhelmed with the arrival of more than 40,000 immigrants to the city since last May.

The mayor has come to the fore in recent days to recognize this strategy and define it as “decompression” and has insisted on the voluntary nature of the trips and on the “humane treatment” that this represents, compared to the “mandatory” shipments of immigrants that, according to him, the governor of Texas has been making to New York.

Thus, the poster displayed at the bus station specifies the conditions to be eligible for a free travel ticket: having immigration documents in order, a valid address in the United States, and “a phone number of the person who will meet you upon arrival when you arrive at the final destination.”

Until now, no source from the Mayor’s Office has provided information on how many immigrants have taken advantage of these trips outside of New York -despite the requests of numerous media- but according to people in charge of its management, the chosen destinations are usually Plattsburgh (along with the Canadian border) and various cities in Florida, Arizona and Texas, states with a large Hispanic population.
