It was late Friday night when Marisela Sáez received an alarm message on her WhatsApp: the fire that besieged her country was rapidly approaching her residence. The mother of two children immediately notified her parents and locked herself in the car of her partner, who was working, waiting for her parents to rescue some valuables.

“I knelt down and hugged my daughter, my mother hugged my little boy. My father and the neighbors got in and there I felt the fire, I felt the heat and I thought that we were all going to die here,” said the woman, according to TN.
