The heartbreaking testimony of a young Turk who was going to get married: “I was going to dress my partner as a bride, but now I will do it with a funeral shroud”

The earthquakes that devastated Turkey and Syria on Monday have not only left thousands dead and injured; Also, heartbreaking testimonials. Such is the case of a couple in Turkey who had planned to get married in April, but as a result of the earthquakes there has been a tragic outcome: the death of the fiancée during the tremors. It has been her own partner, 22 years old -she was a few less-, who has taken her body to an improvised morgue -before it was a sports hall-.

This was recounted by Yunus Emre Kaya, the victim’s boyfriend: “I was thinking of dressing her in a wedding dress, but now I will dress her in a burial shroud. Imagine that someone ties you hand and foot and you cannot get up. There is no food, no there is water, and I have no air left either. This is how I am. I’m like a walking dead“. It is just one of the thousands of heartbreaking examples that are being experienced these days in Turkey and Syria, where the victims are expected to continue to increase considerably in the coming days.
