Argentina will donate about one million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine against COVID-19 to five countries, the Government reported this Thursday in a series of decrees published in its Official Gazette.

In the decrees signed by the president Alberto Fernandez it is established that the country has a sufficient quantity of vaccines for donation “without affecting the objectives outlined in its Strategic Vaccination Plan against COVID-19″, While “it registers a constant decrease in the number of cases in the last 20 weeks” due to the advance of the inoculation and the care measures.

The document also states that the “global challenge” posed by the pandemic “requires a solidarity strategy aimed at equitable access to vaccines”, an action with which Argentina has already benefited by receiving more than 7 million vaccines donated by United States, Canada, Mexico and Spain.

Argentina reports more than 5.3 million infections and some 116,000 deaths during the pandemic.
