A civil transport plane, made in Japan, was the idea of the company Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) to put on the market.
However, continued interruptions and delays in the development of the project prevented the company from setting a launch date for the aircraft. But it was the covid-19 pandemic that was the true end of the idea of the civil airplane.
MHI explained on Tuesday that, at the start of the project, it “did not sufficiently take into account the very complex certification processes for a commercial aircraft” and that it did not have the necessary resources to continue with its development.
MHI, the Japanese government-backed company, has spent the equivalent of more than $8.6 billion on SpaceJet development since the project’s inception in 2008.
Initially a commercialization was planned from 2013. (YO)
