The offensive of the Russian Army in Ukraine does not seem to stop, almost a year after the invasion. His movements in the east are advancing “successfully,” Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said on Tuesday.
“Currently, fighting is progressing successfully in the areas” of Bakhmut and Vuhledar, Shoigu said, adding that Ukraine’s use of long-range weapons could make the escalation of the conflict “unpredictable.”
The European Union meets in kyiv, amid Russian offensive
In recent weeks, the Ukrainian authorities have asked their Western allies to multiply and accelerate military aid, getting them to agree to the delivery of German-made Leopard 2 tanks.
The United States also promised weapons with a range of up to 150 km, which kyiv claimed so that it could attack Russian ammunition depots and supply lines from behind the front line.
War in Ukraine, one year after the Russian invasion to ‘denazify’ the country
On Saturday night, Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky acknowledged that the situation was “complicating” on the entire front and particularly in Bakhmut, a city that he swore to promise “as long as possible.”
Meanwhile, Russia hopes to gain control over that city, which is accumulating casualties on both sides. Taking this town would open the way for an offensive on Kramatorsk, the main kyiv-controlled city in the Donbas mining basin. (YO)
