An earthquake of magnitude 7.5 on the Richter scale has shaken this Monday the Turkish province of Kahramanmaras, the epicenter hours before an earthquake of magnitude 7.8 that has left more than 1,400 dead in the country and in neighboring Syria, as confirmed by the authorities.
“A magnitude 7.5 earthquake occurred at 1:24 p.m. (local time) in the district of Elbistan, in the province of Kahramanmaras“, said the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), under the Turkish Ministry of the Interior, through its account on the social network Twitter.
Specifically, this earthquake occurred at a depth of ten kilometers. A third earthquake has also occurred at dawn and has reached 6.7 magnitude, at a depth of 14 kilometers from the surface. These quakes have taken place among dozens of aftershocks that have followed the magnitude 7.8 quake.
