Ukraine’s defense minister to be replaced, lawmaker says

Senior lawmaker David Arakhamia of Ukraine reported that the defense minister of that country, Oleksii Reznikov, will be replaced by the head of military intelligence, Kyrylo Budanov, within the framework of a reorganization of senior government officials.

Arakhamia asserted that this change occurs after some corruption scandals and waiting for a new offensive by Russia. “Kyrylo Budanov will head the Ministry of Defense, which is absolutely logical in times of war”, said the deputy.

In this sense, the parliamentarian added that Reznikov will be appointed Minister of Strategic Industries, after having remained in the Defense portfolio since November 2021.
