When Daria got to her kyiv hospital to give birth to her baby, there were no doctors to treat her: “When we arrived at the delivery room, everyone was in the bunker,” she explains. A center in which, in addition, maternity has had to move to the basement of the building. These are the consequences of a war like the one experienced in Ukraine, a country where babies have been born under bombs for almost a year.
laSexta visits one of these hospitals to find out how, despite everything, health professionals do not give up, they continue working day after day and with the same emotion they help women bring their children into the world.
Vitalina, a gynecologist, explains that even they had to move to the occupied areas by Russian troops to help where necessary. In addition, many of these women move from deserted areas, which is why they need psychological help.
Ukrainian hospitals have suffered directly from the war. The WHO denounces 747 attacks against hospital centers in Ukraine. And in Lugansk, an area occupied by the Russians, those who are still standing are taken by the troops, as in the one shown in the video, and in which the maternity hospital has practically become a field hospital for soldiers.
