Walmart: how much pay per hour in the United States in 2023

How much do they pay per hour at Walmart? The largest private employer in USAwith a total of 1.7 million workers, announced it will raise the minimum wage with the goal of retaining store and warehouse workers amid a tight job market for lower-paying industries.

94% of Walmart workers in the US are hourly employees, according to its latest annual statement of values. The company hired hundreds of thousands of workers during the COVID-19 pandemic to meet strong consumer demand for groceries and other products.

HOW MUCH DOES WALMART PAY ITS EMPLOYEES IN THE UNITED STATES?

Walmart US President and CEO John Furner announced the company will raise the minimum to as much as $2 for US associates to a range of $14 to $19 per hour, depending on location.

“We expect these increases to bring our average US hourly wage to more than $17.50,” explained.

The measure will benefit some 340,000 workers in some 3,000 stores. Currently the minimum wage is $12 to $14 an hour, so this is an increase of 16.7%.

The company has already raised the minimum wage of its employees from US$11 to US$12 in 2021, after three years in which it had not moved.

The move will help address rising food, housing and other inflationary pressures.

Walmart US Chairman and CEO John Furner said that increases will be reflected in March 2 paychecks and that this includes a combination of regular annual associate raises and targeted investments in start-up fees for thousands of stores, to ensure attractive wages in the markets it operates.

According to CNN in Spanish, Walmart’s salary increase reflects the pressure on the chains of the campaigns for the salary increase for the workforce. Walmart is trying to keep up with rivals, as well as cities and states that have been raising their minimum wages.
