January is about to end and the retired workers and pensioners of the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) wait for the month of February to receive their corresponding deposit. But, for this second month of the year, the beneficiaries will receive an increase in their pension, as a result of the increase in the minimum wage.
The new minimum wage it entered into force on January 1, 2023, for this reason, in the second month of the year, Mexicans will only see the increase reflected in the amounts of their pension. However, it is important to emphasize that not all beneficiaries will receive the extra money in their accounts.

When do they pay the IMSS 2023 Pension?
Authorities from the Mexican Institute of Social Security announced that the beneficiaries of the Pension program IMSS They will receive an extra amount as of February 1, 2023, due to the increase in the minimum wage.
The increase in the monthly salary that was approved for this 2023, went from 172.87 to 207.44 pesos; while in the Free Zone of the Northern Border it goes from 260.34 to 312.41 pesos per day, which represents a total of a 20% increase in both regional zones of the country.
Who will receive extra payment in the IMSS Pension?
People have to take into account that although the increases in the minimum wage and the amount of the IMSS Pension are positive, not all people will be able to enjoy the increases.
In this sense, the IMSS assured that the only pensioners and retired who will receive the deposit are those who are under the following laws:

- Social Security Law (LSS) 1973: The increase for IMSS pensions that belong to this regime will be proportional to the increase in the minimum wage, so from February they will rise 20%.
- Law 1997: The increase in these pensions will depend on the National Consumer Price Index (INPC), the inflation rate and the increase in the general minimum wage.
- Guaranteed minimum pension: Retirees who receive the guaranteed pension from the IMSS must receive at least the equivalent of a monthly minimum wage, which is equivalent to 6,583 pesos and represents an increase of 12.8%.

How to start the pension process at the IMSS?
People who want to formally start the process must go to the economic benefits window in the corresponding Family Medicine Unit (UMF) and have the following documents:
- An official photo ID
- A document that proves the Social Security Number of the insured
- Proof of residence less than three months old

- AFORE account statement
- Proof of registration to the Federal Taxpayer Registry
- A document issued by the bank that includes the account number and password of the insured
On the other hand, for retirement pensions at advanced age or old age, the IMSS enabled My Digital Pension, a platform to expedite the process before going to the Family Medicine Unit and continuing with the process.
