The price of dollar in Mexico trades higher in the early hours of Monday as investors turn their attention to the start of the main central banks’ monetary policy meetings this week.

The exchange rate is listed at 18,773 pesos per dollar, according to data from the Bloomberg agency.

According to an analysis by Goldman Sachs, the Mexican labor market continues to improve. In seasonally adjusted terms, the unemployment rate remained stable at 3.0% in December, 80 basis points less than a year ago and below the 3.29% prior to the COVID crisis that started in March 2020.

It is worth mentioning that the Mexican currency has shown a favorable trend against the dollar since December of last year. And it is that the US authorities implemented a series of monetary policy measures to avoid excessive inflation.

In this sense, since December 6, 2022, the price of the Mexican peso has improved against the dollar.

The Latin American currency and stock markets posted a mixed close last Friday, amid a global advance in the dollar, while the investors They were focusing their attention on the start of the monetary policy meetings of the main central banks that will take place next week.

The dollar rose slightly against the euro, after knowing data on the drop in consumption in USA and the cooling of inflation, and waiting for the meetings of the main central banks next week.

Consumer spending, which accounts for more than two-thirds of US economic activity, fell 0.2% last month, the Commerce Department reported. Economists polled by Reuters had expected consumer spending to fall 0.1%.
