The earthquake was registered at 9:44 p.m. (local time), at a depth of 7 kilometers, according to the Iranian Seismological Center in Tehran.

The tremor has been so notable that it has also been felt in many regions of the province of West Azarbaijanincluding the provincial capital of Tabriz, and also the neighboring province of East Azarbaijan, as reported by the Iranian agency IRNA.

The city of Joy is located near the border with turkeyand according to the cited agency, the earthquake could also be felt in this country, but also in Iraq, Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan.
