The young woman’s family released the last video she sent last Friday, January 20, 2023 when she went out to a party in Bogotá with her boyfriend, John Poulos, who was captured in Panama trying to flee to his country, the United States.

“This video was on Friday night. He rented a car and picked her up in the south, at my sister’s apartment. He picked her up at night and they went out to a party, ”said Jorge Hidalgo, one of the DJ’s uncles.

Two days later, on Sunday, January 22, a recycler found the body of Trespalacios in a suitcase, inside a garbage container, in the town of Fontibón, according to Noticias Caracol.

In the same car that he rented, Poulos moved the body of Trespalacios to throw it in the container. The murderer took the body of the DJ from the apartment where they were in a market cart and then put it in the trunk of the vehicle, everything was recorded in the security videos.

The most recent detail about the case that keeps Colombia in suspense is that John would have murdered her while she was sleeping, according to the Legal Medicine report published by RCN. In addition, the attacker would have assaulted her before strangling her.

The approximately 33-year-old man is from Texas, United States, and met Valentina in the middle of his job as a DJ.

“He had very good intentions with her, to get married, to make a life here in Colombia with her, to invest here in Colombia. He supposedly came all the way to Colombia, I don’t know what happened, I don’t understand, ”said Laura Hidalgo, Valentina’s mother, to Noticias Caracol.

For his part, the family’s lawyer, Miguel Ángel del Río, pointed out that given the forcefulness of the evidence against the American as the young woman’s main suspect, the foreigner should be sentenced to 50 years in prison.

“There is no mafia here, no Medellín cartel, no criminal organization, this is an act committed by a deranged man, by a man who must answer to the authorities for an execrable crime, a heinous crime, who must have everything as a response. the action of justice,” he said.
