McDonald’s leaves the Russian market after 30 years of activity

“The humanitarian crisis caused by the war in Ukraine and the unpredictable environment for operating there have led McDonald’s to conclude that business in Russia is no longer sustainablenor is it consistent with McDonald’s values,” a company statement said.

Chief Executive Officer Chris Kempczinski said in the statement that he was proud of the more than 60,000 workers employed in Russia and that the decision was “extremely difficult”but that “our commitment to our values ​​means we can no longer stay there.”

The company announced the temporary closure of all its establishments and the suspension of its operations in the country on March 8, following in the footsteps of other multinationals that distanced themselves from Moscow.
