The president of United States, Joe Bidenhas announced that his Administration will send 31 M1 Abrams tanks to Ukraineas part of the weapons that NATO provides to the Ukrainian Army.
The shipment will be accompanied by other measures, such as the training of Ukrainian troops, with the aim of “improving their ability to maneuver in the open field” and their long-term military capabilities.
Biden took advantage of his press conference to thank the German chancellor, Olaf Schölz, shipping their tanks to Ukraine. “Germany has lived up to it. The chancellor has defended unity at all times,” he added.
“It is not an offensive threat to Russia,” Biden added. The US leader has spoken by phone with Scholz; the president of France, Emmanuel Macronand the Prime Ministers of Italy and the United Kingdom, Giorgia Meloni Y Rishi Sunak.
