Englishman Jude Bellingham unlikely to renew with Borussia Dortmund

Jude Bellingham’s future appears to be far from the german football. According to information from the English tabloid The Sunthe 19-year-old midfielder plans to turn down Borussia Dortmund’s contract renewal proposal.

Bellingham has been at Signal Induna Park since 2020, after being traded by Birmingham, England, the club that formed him. He has a contract until 2025, but the Germans, aware of the interest that the player instigates in the market, want to extend his contract for another five seasons.

In addition, according to the English newspaper, Borussia’s proposal is to double his salary, which would make the number 22 become the highest paid player in the club’s history.

So far, Real Madrid and Liverpool are the biggest interested in signing Bellingham. The English team even intends to offer the player a long-term contract. This movement has been called the “Gerrard Project”, in allusion to Steven Gerrard, a great idol of the English club.

At Borussia Dortmund, the Englishman participated in 113 games, with 20 goals and 22 assists. The good performance made Bellingham become one of the main players of the team, which earned him a call-up for the World Cup in Qatar, last year.

For the England national team, Jude Bellingham participated in five games in Qatar, scored a goal and provided an assist. The goal, scored on his debut against Iran, made the midfielder the first player born in the 21st century to score in a World Cup.
