According to Interior Ministry sources, it could be “a terrorist action.” The alleged assailant opened the door of a patrol car and injured an officer, before being “neutralized”.
A policeman was injured with a knife this Monday in Cannes (France) for the aggression against a patrol perpetrated by a man, who has been “neutralized” by law enforcement.
According to police sources cited by the France Info station, the events occurred around 06:30 in the vicinity of the city’s central police station when a man has approached a patrol car, has opened the door and has attacked one of the agents inside with a knife.
He then went to open another door but before he could commit a new assault he was shot by another agent, who thus managed to “neutralize” him.
Sources from the Ministry of the Interior quoted by the media have assured that it could be “a terrorist action”. As police sources have specified to the agency France Press, the individual would have declared “acting on behalf of Muhammad.”
The French Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, has indicated on his Twitter account that an agent has been wounded by a knife and that he was traveling to Cannes.
A policeman from the #Cannes was stabbed. The assailant was neutralized by his colleagues. I am going there immediately this morning and I give all my support to the national police and to the city of Cannes.

Darmanin, who has insisted on expressing all his support for the National Police, has added that the alleged aggressor has been neutralized by other agents. The mayor of Cannes, David Lisnard, has specified on his own that none of the people involved has died and that the circumstances of what happened are being clarified.
