A building with houses is being consumed by flames in the center of Lima, Peru, in the midst of the protests that are being carried out to demand the resignation of the president Dina Boluarte as well as the closure of Congress.
The house is located on one side of the Plaza San Martín where a group of protesters gathered. Mario Casaretto, departmental chief of the Lima fire department, denounced that stones were thrown at them while they were on their way to the emergency.

The residents of the property were evacuated while the causes of the incident that started around 8:00 p.m. have not yet been determined.

The Ombudsman’s Office called on the protesters to allow the passage of the motorized bombs.

In Lima, the authorities deployed “11,800 troops in the streets to control riots, more than 120 trucks and 49 military vehicles, and also the participation of the armed forces,” said the head of the Lima Police Region, General Víctor Zanabría.
Various businesses near the route of the march were closing as the day progressed and some covered the windows with wood to avoid being the target of eventual attacks by vandals. (YO)
