Last December, a group of researchers from the University of Yamagata (Japan), led by Masato Sakai, announced the discovery of geoglyphs on the southern coast of Peru.
In total, there were 168 new drawings near the Nazca lines and they were discovered with the help of local archaeologists, aerial images and drones.
Within this group were figures of humans, camelids, birds, orcas, felines and snakes. Its discovery occurred after field studies between June 2019 and February 2020.

With these, there were already 358 figures that Japanese scientists had revealed since the project began in 2004. Now Sakai has promoted a new theory about the use these lines had.
Some experts believed that the marks were a grand astronomical calendar, while others consider them to be religious figures. While ufologists maintain that they were landing strips for alien ships.
In an agency interview EFEreplicated by various media, Sakai indicated that there are two types of figures, some linear and other reliefs in the figures. Each one of them would fulfill a function, in the case of the first ones they would be used to travel between the valleys and the others are located next to paths that were not straight and were drawn on a slope.
