The World Health Organization (WHO) has called on the Chinese authorities to share more detailed information about the impact of the last wave of the coronavirus in the Asian giant.
The international body recognizes the Beijing’s willingness to collaborate but asks for “some more detailed data by provinces and over time“, as explained in a statement.
also asks that China contribute “more sequences” to open databases such as GISAID, the Global Initiative for Sharing Data on Avian Influenza, the first institution that succeeded in sequencing SARS-CoV-2 or COVID-19, responsible for the pandemic, “so that analyzes can be carried out deeper phylogenetic”.
It also requests Beijing to “continue collaborating with technical groups who are working on the evolution of the virus, on clinical care and on other issues”.
