Maduro asks Biden to lift all sanctions against Venezuela

The president of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduroasked this Thursday his US counterpart, Joe Bidenthat lift “all sanctions” applied by the US government to the Caribbean country in recent years.

“Enough of the sanctions. Government of Joe Biden, lift all criminal sanctions against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, enough of criminal sanctions”said Maduro during the accountability of the year 2022 before the National Assembly (AN/Parliament), with a resounding pro-government majority.

He indicated that, according to expert estimates, in the last 8 years “Imperialism and its weaklings and extremist lackeys stole from Venezuela the amount of 411 million dollars per day”which he qualified as “a criminal robbery”.

“Enough of the economic persecution, enough of the financial persecution. (…) Economic freedom, commercial freedom, financial freedom, freedom for Venezuela”he expressed.

He indicated that they have applied “more than 927 sanctions”, of which 42.19% are against government agencies, 18.75% against the oil industry and 17.19% against the economy and finances of the country, which includes the “prohibition of opening bank accounts to collect the products” that are exported and the “freeze of almost 20,000 million dollars”.

It also noted that 7.81% of the restrictions were against the private sector, 4.69% against the political sector, 4.69% against transportation, 3.13% against food and 1.55% other sectors.

On the other hand, he reiterated that the sanctions caused a 99% drop in oil revenues, which means, he assured, that “The country stopped receiving 232,000 million dollars.”

“This is summed up in the persecution of all investment, exploration, exploitation, oil production, marketing, sale and collection activities, all activities are subject to interventionism, persecution and sanctions, with a single objective, that Venezuela does not have the resources that it can freely produce”he added.
