“I am sure that such powerful weapons will make it possible to effectively protect Russia from external threats and they will help defend national interests,” Putin said during the ceremony on Wednesday, in which he participated with Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, from an unspecified location, according to Russian news agencies.
“The ship’s crew will be trained in the deployment of the long-range hypersonic and cruise missile weapons”, Shoigu specified for his part.
The minister noted that the Zircon hypersonic missiles are “capable of surpassing any current or future air defense system,” and can carry out “powerful and precise strikes on land and sea.”
