US authorities announced the seizure of a drug shipment that had left Ecuador by air. US Customs and Border Protection announced the discovery of a suitcase with several blocks of drugs on December 19.
Through a statement, it was indicated that a canvas suitcase was found at the John F. Kennedy airport in New York on a flight from Guayaquil. Officials inspected the baggage checked by the company and a dog detected an anomaly.
When examined with X-rays, an irregular pattern was observed and manual inspection was carried out, finding 10 blocks that tested positive for cocaine. This shipment was referred to Homeland Security Investigations. In total, 24 pounds and an estimated street value of $400,000 were accounted for.
