The elected president of Brazil, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silvareported this Saturday that he met with the president of the Federation Council Russian (Senate), Valentina Matvienko, to whom he expressed his desire for peace with Ukraine.
Matvienko heads the delegation sent by the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, to the inauguration of Lula, who will assume power this Sunday, after four years of government of the far-right Jair Bolsonaro, who this Friday left the country and traveled to the United States without admit their defeat in the elections last October.
“I appreciated the greetings from Putin that she brought and expressed Brazil’s desire for peace and for the parties (for Russia and Ukraine) to find a common ground for the end of the conflict,” Lula wrote on his social networks, along with two photos with the president of the Russian Upper House.

Lula will assume power in Brazil this Sunday, in a ceremony that will bring together delegations from fifty countries in Brasilia.
The list of attendees includes about twenty heads of state and government, headed by the king of Spain and the leaders of Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Paraguay, Uruguay, as well as the presidents of Germany and Portugal.
